Everything about Isabelle and Christophe Sabon of Domaine de la Janasse is awesome. The people, the vineyards and most importantly the wines they make. That's why we are so excited about Clos Saint Antonin, a property purchased by the Sabon's in 2014, a short drive away from Courthézon where Domaine de la Janasse is situated. They farm a 15 hectare plot of old vines on a gravelly, red clay soil within the famed Côtes-du-Rhône Village of Plan de Dieu. A blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, and Syrah from the vineyard's younger plantings: 30-50 years old, this cuvée is dominated by Grenache (80%) which is Isabelle's muse. Deep and rich, this is remarkable for the price. Even Jeb Dunnuck says they’re the closest thing to Chateau Rayas out there. Rhone royalty for under $15 a bottle!
"Moving to the 2018s, the 2018 Côtes du Rhône is another perfumed, elegant, beautifully complex Côtes du Rhône offering a cool-climate-like style in its more raspberry and strawberry fruits as well as white pepper and Provençal garrigue aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, seamless, and beautifully balanced, this is a terrific Côtes du Rhône to enjoy over the coming 3-5 years." Jeb Dunnuck, 90 Points
